Winter Wash (3)
This work in progress draws inspiration from the features of an automated tunnel car wash and iconographic elements of a Canadian winter. Soap and water dispensers, mitter curtains and scrubbers have been replaced with mechanized scarves, gloves and a simulated snow dispenser. 2010 Electronics/Winter Wear/Audio/Confetti. -
Domes (4)
In this two person show entitled Domes, I teamed up with local interdisciplinary artist Rob Shedden to create a sculptural installation at the Khyber Art Institute. I presented a large suspended red knitted toque which had previously been worn and placed in various public settings around Halifax. Along side the hat was a large-scale digital photograph and video documentation of the public performances. Using traditional quilting methods Shedden used fabric to construct an igloo. Adding to the winter theme, I constructed a motion sensitive snow machine that dispensed white confetti. Soft dim lights and the gentle sound of the confetti falling helped create a surreal wintry environment. 2009 Performance/Sculptural Installation/Video, Halifax, NS -
